About 100 firefighters have been tackling a severe blaze at the power station
A huge blaze which engulfed a power station at Tilbury in Essex has been brought under control, firefighters say.
More than 120 firefighters tackled the blaze, which started in a storage area containing about 4,000 tonnes of wood pellets at about 07:45 GMT.
Crews are now inside the building, using foam spray to starve the flames of oxygen.
A fire service spokesman said the blaze could continue burning for some time.
Plant owner RWE npower said all employees had been accounted for.
Chief Fire Officer David Johnson, incident commander, said the fire was one of the most challenging he had dealt with in his 20-year career.
'Punishing conditions'"It has taken us some time to establish that the structure of the building is safe enough for us to commit crews," he said.
"But firefighters in breathing apparatus are now inside the building.
"They are doing an absolutely fantastic job in dangerous and punishing conditions.
"Inside the building it's hot, full of smoke and extremely dusty."
Extra stocks of foam are being brought in to tackle the blaze, which took hold in the north end of the power station.
Concerns had been raised about the structure of the building, as water was initially sprayed onto the pellets which increased their weight.
But high-expansion foam was later used as it was lighter than water and would not affect the weight of the wood.
Cause 'unknown'Tilbury Power Station was built to burn coal, but was recently granted consent to burn biomass fuel and wood materials.
Biomass plants burn wood pellets, generally made from compacted sawdust or other wastes.
Mr Johnson said it was too early to say what caused the blaze.
He said the fire service had saved three-quarters of the potential fire spread, and that the next stage of the process would be removing wood chippings away from the storage area.
This could take up to two days, he added.

One of the party came down on Saturday and was arrested by police, who said they would not try to remove the others for safety reasons, although they were trespassing.
The protest was designed to stop the rig from sailing to Alaska?s Chukchi Sea on Sunday after ending drilling off the Taranaki coast.
Greenpeace quoted one of the activists, Vic Hadlow as saying, ?It?s been so inspiring to get all of these online messages and to know that standing alongside the six of us on this ship, there are hundreds of thousands of other people around the world who feel passionate about the Arctic and are prepared to take action to put a stop to Shell?s crazy Arctic drilling plans.?

In a nameless Middle Eastern desert, feuding lords Emir (Antonio Banderas) and Amar (Mark Strong) make a truce: that no one will use the Yellow Belt, a patch of desert between their two kingdoms, and Emir takes Amar?s two sons to ensure the bargain is kept. But as the two sons reach adulthood, Emir finds oil under the Yellow Belt and starts drilling, which Amar views as an act of aggression. With neither side willing to back down, Amar?s bookish son Auda (Tahar Rahim) must make his own destiny.Black Gold comes from director Jean-Jacques Annaud, whose best work remains the Sean Connery monk-detective film The Name of the Rose and the Robert De Niro-starring drama The Mission. His recent output, including?Two Brothers and Enemy at the Gates, has been patchy, but he?s not a director you can dismiss. And although Black Gold is never quite as sweeping or as thrilling as it should be, there?s a lot to admire. The story is somehow endearing in its familiarity: the quiet son forced to choose between two father figures before realising that he needs to cast both off to become the man he needs to be. Although the script is often a little simplistic and predictable, Annaud is helped immeasurably by the surprising but effective casting. Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) imbues his character with stoic intensity while Banderas has a lot of fun as his greedier, more venal counterpart.? And if A Prophet?s Tahar Rahim occasionally looks a little lost under the weight of carrying the film (and acting in English), Riz Ahmed (Four Lions) is a joy as Auda?s wise-cracking brother Ali. It?s a shame that Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) isn?t given enough to do as Auda?s true love. Sadly most of the surprises end with the casting, and at a slightly awkward two hours it has the unfortunate feeling of both being a little long and having under-developed characters. For one project, Makeig is collaborating with neuroscientists Marissa Westerfield and Jean Thompson, UC San Diego researchers studying movement behavior in teenagers with autism. They put the teens, wearing the EEG sensors and LEDs, in Makeigs special classroom. Then, they project a spaceship on the walls. The kids have to chase the spaceship as it darts from one point to another. Although the results are not yet in, Westerfield suspects that people with autism, compared with those who are non-autistic, will take longer to process where the spaceship has gone and readjust their movements toward it. If we had a better idea of the underlying deficits?then we could possibly design better interventions, such as targeted physical therapy for the movement problems autistic people have, Westerfield says.
Neuroscientists and psychologists have been using EEG to eavesdrop on brain waves since 1926, and doctors employ it to study sleep patterns and observe epileptic seizures. During most of that time, subjects had to sit in an electrically shielded booth, like a big refrigerator, saysJohn Foxe, a neuroscientist at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He calls Makeigs MoBI technical wizardry that will enable scientists to watch the brain and how it works in much more realistic settings.

A Brigham Young University student business may have created the perfect solution for those who are always searching in vain for a parking spot. At the second-annual International Business Model Competition, XoomPark won the grand prize of $12,000 cash for its idea of a parking reservation website. XoomPark bested five other teams at the competition, sponsored by the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology.
"This year we had an amazing set of teams, and I'm excited to see the businesses that will come out of this competition," says Nathan Furr, entrepreneur professor and BMC judge. "The Business Model Competition represents a new and growing wave of entrepreneurial thinking and a better way to build a business."
At the competition the finalists, including teams from Harvard and the University of California, Berkeley, presented before a panel of judges and a live audience by explaining how they tested their hypotheses and made changes to their business models. The finalists were judged on the evolving process of establishing a business and how well their model addressed potential customers' needs.

Universities from around the world were invited to participate by either holding a qualifier competition or by having their student teams submit an application. Overall, the competition received more than fifty submissions.
Nearly $30,000 cash was awarded to the finalists. Second place was given to Harvard team Excelegrade, an online software tool for teachers. Third and fourth places were awarded to BYU teams AutoBid, which provides insurance estimates to auto body shops, and FlexLeg, a company offering prosthetic braces for injured legs. MPrep from University of California, Berkeley won fifth place with its model, which gives students in Africa educational materials through mobile phones.
The International Business Model Competition was founded at BYU in 2011 and is the first business competition of its kind to use the business model format to reward student businesses for customer validation. Next year the International Business Model Competition will be held at Harvard.
Ken Frei, co-founder of XoomPark and a business management major from Idaho Falls, Idaho, says participating in the event gave teams exposure and feedback that they wouldn't have received otherwise.
"It was an awesome event," Frei says. "Participating in this competition helped us think more critically about what we were doing at XoomPark and refine our business model so it better fits our customers."
Renowned entrepreneur and BMC judge Steve Blank says he was pleased with the quality of the entries and expects the reputation of the competition to continue to spread as more entrepreneurs adopt the business model theory.
"Entrepreneurship is the leading force behind creating jobs," Blank says. "This Business Model Competition is a part of that."
The Marriott School is located at Brigham Young University, the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. The school has nationally recognized programs in accounting, business management, public management, information systems and entrepreneurship. The school's mission is to prepare men and women of faith, character and professional ability for positions of leadership throughout the world. Approximately 3,000 students are enrolled in the Marriott School's graduate and undergraduate programs.
